ellisonik Great to hear this, Sean - some truly unexpected lyrical twists and edgy discomfort- nice one! Many moons ago, I was on the Preacher’s Son sessions when Brian recorded a version of “O Lipstick”: I liked it then, loved hearing your version again here. Great work!

You've got an alcohol problem you're putting on weight but apart from that you're looking great, at least that's what you say when you meet an old friend, you wake up biting the carpet again. You haven't cared since you can't remember, you spray on a smell and you change your shirt, your life is one long pointless struggle to hide the dirt, hide the dirt. You've got an alcohol problem your close to tears, you've written three lines in the last two years - on the back of an envelope all poets carry addressed to the woman you should have married saying 'Angel I'm sorry, Angel forget me, Angel forget that you ever met me' so here's one for the barman, set em up joe, one more for my baby and one more for the road. And here's to the man you've been dying to kill, you're dying to die and this rate you will, five years ago your words brought tears to my eyes but these days it's just hello and goodbye to your alcohol problem, you feel so alone and one of these days you're going to make it home, and they'll all admit you were right to go, but jesus christ what would they know...

about

It was recorded over three days. Credits below. Tymons idea was that there should be no acoustic guitars, and that the vocals should be mixed so loud that they were audible in th enext room. He would stand out in the hall and if he couldn't make out every word he would mix it again. Originally released by Robert Stephensons treasure island discs in Ireland and licensed for distribution to Various international labels and distributors. ( Seán Says: It was released in the UK, Sweden and ( I think maybe) Holland.)
